Our Honduras Organic coffee is cooperatively grown by Cafes Finos Corquin (CAFICO) within the Copán Department and just outside of the massive 65,000 acre Celaque National Park. The CAFICO organization partners with over 300 growing members and maintains a focus on socio-economic development, gender equality and protection of the environment. Their farmers are provided with certification training, access to quality technications, transportation services, cupping labs and subsidized support for their ecologically sensitive wet mill. The CAFICO Honduras Organic coffee farms range in elevation from 2,952 – 5,249 feet and utilize a sandy type of loam to produce their arabica, which has been cultivated in this region since 1885.
Sweet notes of Chamomile Lemon and Pear. Well balanced. Medium body.
The lots are washed and either sun dried or mechanically dried when weather and precipitation doesn’t permit outdoor drying. In addition to being certified organic, and grown without chemicals or pesticides, this lot of Honduras Organic coffee is also a certified Rainforest Alliance coffee. Together these certifications provide a very reliable standard, and ensure that growers and mill operators are being held to the highest levels of quality and sustainability—and receiving the best possible premiums in exchange.
