Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving Black Coffee Mug, Give Thanks Message

As Thanksgiving approaches most of us are making our plans to gather with family and friends to celebrate with the traditional fanfare of turkey, cranberries, potatoes and football. At the same time, in light of all the adversity in the world, it is hard not to reflect on what we are most thankful and grateful for.

Looking Back At 2017

A lot has happened in 2017. A new President was elected. Farmer Brothers acquired the 100 year old family business Boyd Coffee. Hamilton, the American musical and Broadway play took the stage by storm. And the Houston Astro’s made history by winning the World Series.

Recovery From Natural Disasters

Also in the past year Mother Nature showed no mercy with hurricanes, earthquake and wildfires. Many of our coffee industry friends and colleagues here in the US and at source were affected by these events. This past October, the Vournas Coffee Trading family lost a dear family friend in the Wine Country Fire, Carmen Berriz. This was a heartbreaking loss and she will be deeply missed and always remembered for her beautiful smile and kind heart.

Honoring Our Proud Military Men & Women

We here at Vournas Coffee Trading are grateful to the men and women who serve in our military and we would like to thank them. Their service allows us to continue to drink coffee freely and enjoy the many freedoms and liberties our country bestows upon us.

Thank You VCT Roasters

We would also like to thank all of our Roasters who have contributed to our success here. Because of your continued support, we’ve expanded our sustainable coffee roster this year, adding several new estates, micro lots and origins. We continue to have a strong and healthy supply chain, all the way from the individual farmer abroad down to the smallest micro-roaster here at home. We’ve always said that coffee is about people, and in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for each and every one of you who has helped to make us a proud, successful, independent, family-owned specialty green coffee importer.

So as you raise your glass to toast at Thanksgiving give pause to those whose lives were lost and for the many blessings we receive each and every day.

From our family to yours, have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving.

Kat
