Honduras El Socorro Buho

This month we’re very pleased to again be able to offer another fantastic offering from the El Socorro growing community in Comayagua, Honduras. For a number of years we have been importing some excellent coffees from the El Socorro Community located a short distance from the municipality of Siguatepeque. This latest offering has a BIG citrusy-orange profile with a smooth malt-like sweetness and a great body to balance it out.

Here’s the scoop.

Honduras El Socorro Buho

Our Honduras El Socorro Buho is produced by several small farm holder residents of the El Socorro de la Peñita community located on the outskirts of the nearby municipality of Siguatepeque. It is a selection of Catuai, IHCAFE 90 and Lempira grown in separate family plots at 4,593 ft elevation, and washed and patio dried. The farmers utilize sustainable growing techniques, precision pruning and strict fertilization cycles. Each plot is divided into highly organized individual varieties to ensure that each coffee type is precisely quality sourced.

Since the establishment of the IHCAFE organization, coffee producers and growing regions across Honduras have benefited from expanded resources and knowledge base assistance. This includes the Honduras El Socorro Buho growers in the larger El Socorro community, as well as neighboring growing regions such as Montecillos. In recent years upgrades to regional infrastructure, and expanded support for sustainable growing practices have begun to propel Honduras into its current status in Central America as a sought after origin of excellent specialty coffee.
